After decades of envirowackoism, famed Vermont ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s has now been found to have traces of the controversial herbicide glyphosate in its ice cream products.

According to a story in youngcons.com:
Ben & Jerry’s has proudly burnished its environmental and liberal credentials for years and often claimed that it is an environmentally friendly company, The New York Times reminds readers. But now they have trouble.
The Organic Consumers Association announced Tuesday that it found traces of glyphosate in 10 of 11 samples of the company’s ice creams — although at levels far below the ceiling set by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Oh, snap. That ain’t gonna look good at their next envirowacko meeting.
One of Ben & Jerry’s directors insisted that they are “working” to fix the problem.
Rob Michalak, global director of social mission at Ben & Jerry’s, said the company was working to ensure that all the ingredients in its supply chain come from sources that do not include genetically modified organisms, known as G.M.O.s. None of its plant-based ingredients, for instance, come from a genetically engineered crop like corn or soy, where glyphosate is used in production. The company is also trying to figure out a cost-effective way for the dairy farms that supply its milk to use non-G.M.O. feed.
Michalak continued saying how shocked they were to see the report:
“But then these tests come along, and we need to better understand where the glyphosate they’re finding is coming from. Maybe it’s from something that’s not even in our supply chain, and so we’re missing it.”
Some consumer groups are arguing that this herbicide in food is linked to diseases in humans and are arguing for it to be banned from use.
But so far definitive studies have not proven anything. Indeed, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, a unit of the World Health Organization, has only said it “probably” could cause some strains of cancer.
Unsurprisingly, the companies that sell and use the chemical say there is no threat to health.
It doesn’t matter that the amount of glyphosate found in Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is very, very small. The fact that this left-wing company has used it at all is quite a black eye for them.
Regardless, the fact is that we don’t know one way or the other if glyphosate is bad for our health. But we know for sure that the left-wing lobbyists are against it and the fact that left-wing Ben & Jerry’s has been found with the chemical in their ice cream is just hilarious.
