Poll Context: Over the past 7 years Obama has cut billions from the US military budget. The A-10 ‘warthog’ was part of the budget cuts but the war against ISIS has saved the aging aircraft. The inelegant but well-armed and well-armored ground-attack jet was facing quick retirement after the Air Force said it needed the money and crews being used to keep the A-10s flying for the brand-new F-35s and other missions. Republican senators have been pushing the Defense Department for months to hang on to the A-10s. Unlike the multirole F-35s that are slated to replace them, the A-10s are the only airplanes in the Air Force specifically designed for close air support, a mission that has become urgent in the fight against ISIS. Many would argue that there are many aspects of the military facing cuts that adversely affect US security and the cuts have to stop. What do you think?
