Poll Context: German police are braced for a surge in drug and sex-related crimes by migrants and an increase in radicalisation against the state, according to a leaked police report. The document predicts a rise in crime and warns that Islamists are “agitating” in asylum centres, increasing the risk of radicalisation among disaffected refugees. It notes “hundreds” of incidents in recent months in which salafists — proponents of militant Sunni Islam — have “sought contact with refugees”. Mark Zuckerberg was recently in Germany and spoke at a Berlin town hall event stated that German leadership in the refugee crisis has been “insipiring” and a “role model for the world.” He went on, “I hope other countries follow Germany’s lead on this,” he added. “I hope the U.S. follows Germany’s lead on this.” Germany took in over 1.1 million refugees last year and has already taken a further 200,000 this year. Many European countries are facing chaos from the refugee influx which makes one ask whether Zuckerberg is right in wanting to bring the problem here.
