Should Mosques That Support Killing Homosexuals Be Closed?
Imam says that killing homosexuals is an act of compassion. He also says you have compassion for people. With homosexuals, it’s the same,” he said. “Out of compassion, let’s get rid of them now.”
Sheikh Khalid Yasin, contends that, Muhammad specifies the punishment for this in a hadith: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Loot, execute the one who does it and the one to whom it is done.’” (Sunan Abu Dawud 4462)
Sheikh’s conclusion is: “God is very straightforward about this — not we Muslims, not subjective, the Sharia is very clear about it, the punishment for homosexuality, bestiality or anything like that is death. We don’t make any excuses about that, it’s not our law — it’s the Koran.
He is very blunt, admitting that under Islamic law, the punishment for homosexuality was death. At the same time, he pointed out that it was the act that should be hated, not the person. “Because the sinner is Allah’s creation,” he said. “You could never hate Allah’s creation.”
“We see the physical killing as something brutal, and this is the point when human hatred toward the act has to be done out of love. You have to be happy for that person … we believe in an afterlife, we believe in an eternal life … and with this sentence, you will be forgiven and you won’t be accountable in the hereafter.”
